Key metrics include: number of movies, average ratings, number of votes and movie run times. These metrics are split by release year, director, and average rating range. Explore this report to uncover many interesting insights in the world of cinema from a large amount of movie ratings data.
Some Interesting Insights:
- Average movie rating across all movies is 6.24/10.
- Average run-time of all movies is 55 minutes, surprisingly shorter than expected considering how long the blockbuster titles run for.
- In 2020 the number of movies released dropped by 15%, from 22.35k (2021) to 19.05k (2020).
- The Shawshank redemption has the highest number of votes of all time (2.9m). It also maintains a higher rating (9.30/10) than the other films in the top 10 most voted for movies of all time.
- Christopher Nolan has the largest number of total votes for movies as director, across 13 movies. This is more than Steven Spielberg, across 41 films and Martin Scorsese, across 41 films.
